A silver color metal and enamel device 1 1/8 inches (2.86 cm) in width overall consisting of an orange demi-sun enclosed at top by a blue scroll inscribed SWIFT BOLD DECISIVE in silver letters, all superimposed by a silver and black eagle in flight, grasping a silver flash.
Ultramarine blue and golden orange are colors traditionally associated with Aviation units. Blue represents the sky, the units theater of operation. Black and silver (white) symbolize twenty-four hour military preparedness. The golden orange sun, a symbol of command and control, refers to Florida, the units location. The eagle grasping a lightning flash denotes flight, swift boldness and decisive direction while underscoring the units motto.
The distinctive unit insignia was approved on 26 April 1990.
